Karen H. Shirley is an estate planning and small business attorney. Karen serves families and individuals in all stages of life, from post-high school adulthood to empty nesters and retirees. She has experience drafting special needs, charitable and pet trusts as well as with water law and real estate. Karen has a client-centered approach that leads to building a personal lawyer-client relationship that lasts a lifetime.
Karen particularly enjoys working with families with young children. As a working parent herself, she understands the chaotic and demanding schedules parents face when raising children. She accommodates working family’s needs by offering limited evening and weekend appointments in addition to traditional office hours.
Karen is a Colorado native, who grew up in Colorado Springs. She attended the University of Denver where she doubled majored in Environmental Science and Political Science. She received her law degree from the University of Colorado, where she was awarded the Outstanding Indian Law Clinic Student of the Year in 2002. She is a frequent speaker for the Douglas County Parenting Coalition and has served on the Board of the Douglas County Gifted and Talented Parents Association.
She has been a member of the Colorado Bar Association for the past 13 years, and is also a member of WealthCounsel and the Alliance of Professional Women. When not providing legal assistance to her clients, she can be found outside enjoying time with her family, sharing her knowledge about eating gluten free and reading.
